Senior Fire Investigator

A: Responsibilities: Conduct origin and cause investigations of fires and explosions. Also conduct background investigations and obtain recorded statements from claimants in reference to fire claims; seize evidence for laboratory analysis or subrogation purposes; and document fire scenes photographically (still and video) and in written reports.

B: Testified as an “expert” in origin and cause in the civil and criminal divisions of the Missouri 22nd Judicial District Circuit Court, Missouri Juvenile Court and the St. Louis Municipal Court. Have also testified as an “expert” in Illinois and Tennessee civil courts.

C. Currently licensed in Missouri and Illinois. Certified by the State of Missouri (CFI), International Association of Arson Investigators (CFI), and the National Association of Fire Investigators (CFEI).

 Mike attended the University of Missouri in St. Louis were he studied journalism. He then participated in Western Illinois University’s Open Learning Fire Service Program, administered by the United States Fire Administration/National Fire Academy. He then attended St. Louis Community College and earned his associated degree in Fire Protection Technology. Mike is also a certified Fire Investigator by the International Association of Arson Investigators and the State of Missouri. In addition he holds certificates as a certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and Fire Fighter I and II. He has also received extensive training in fire and explosion investigation through such agencies as the National Fire Academy/ U.S. Fire Administration; the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms; the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the National Fire Protection Association and the International Association of Arson Investigators. 

Mike has over 33 years of fire investigation experience in both the private and public sectors. He is certified as an “expert” in both the criminal and civil divisions of the Missouri 22nd Judicial District Circuit Court and has testified in civil court cases in courts in Illinois and Tennessee.
